Trip Participant must be covered by his or her own comprehensive travel insurance

When traveling to Nepal, the very last but not least thing you should definitely not underestimate is your travel insurance. People love hiking in Nepal for the abundance of remote nature areas. But that also means that these are often impossible to reach by common means of transport and so in case of an accident the only option that often lefts is to summon a helicopter. To put it into a perspective: - Cost of rescue helicopter – $2000-$5000- Hospital costs – $500 – $3000 (depends on accident)That’s a lot of money. Enough to spoil whole your vacation and leave you with a bitter feel in your mouth. That’s why we strongly recommend you to have your own insurance before your travel. Some options for insurance: WorldNomads, Bigcattravelinsurance.com, Allianz.com/en, ComparetheMarket, Squaremouth.com and Travelguard.com; QBE insurance.Into Nepal strongly encourages you to call your insurance company and check specifics before you arrive in Nepal. We don’t endorse any particular insurance company.

Extra costs and expenses

Even though our trekking packages are all inclusive, we suggest that you budget between $300 and $500 for extra expenditures on your trek including tips. Having a credit card would also be helpful in case you need to book a helicopter in the event your flight is canceled.

- In the event of unforeseen cost due to flight cancellation, weather conditions etc., you are responsible for extra hotel nights (~$40/night) and meals in Kathmandu or Lukla that are a result of flight delays.
- Nepal entry visa ($40 USD).
- Sleeping Bag Rental $20 and Down Jacket $15 if needed.
- All the meals are included on the trek except breakfast in Kathmandu.
- We suggest giving tips for the guide and porter after the trek – Plan on approximately 10% of the price of your trek.
- Bottled drinking water on the trek is not included in your package. You can buy them in a number of places for between $1 and $3 a bottle (it gets more expensive towards base camp). Otherwise, our guides will purify the water with water purification tablets for free.
- The other things not included on the trek are like Wifi, charging batteries and hot showers. Wifi is available in some tea houses for $3 to $5 an hour. Hot Showers are also available in a few of the tea houses for between $4 and $6. Charging electronic devices is possible in the tea houses and charging costs between $1 and $3 an hour.
